海角视频’s new education model is already delivering improved student performance, retention and satisfaction, according to early data.

When compared to pre-COVID figures of 2019, results up to Term 3, 2022 under the 海角视频 Cross Model show student success rates in completing units have increased on average by 16 per cent, from 69 per cent to 85 per cent. Mean Grade Point Averages are also up, from 3.6 to 4.4 (where the highest rate is 7.0), while absent fail rates are down 25 per cent to 4.6 per cent.

Though early, the data has been welcomed as 海角视频 prepares to deliver every course – from Arts to Health, Engineering to Law – under the Model in 2023.

Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic Quality) Professor Thomas Roche said the 海角视频 Cross Model was a bold approach to education that had been purpose-built for the 21st century student.

“The traditional teaching model that has been the mainstay of university education in Australia and abroad for more than a century does not best serve the needs of today’s university students,” he said. “A more relevant approach was needed to reflect today’s super-connected, on-demand and real-time world – one that builds upon all we know about how learners succeed in their study.”

Under the Model, the academic calendar is divided into six terms instead of the more traditional two semesters or three trimesters. Full-time students study a maximum of two units at a time, with a minimum of six and a maximum of 12 units per year in a full-time study load. Content is highly interactive, favouring engaged, active learning formats.

The latest data builds on positive evidence gathered during pilot programs conducted between 2019-21.

“It confirms our belief that the 海角视频 Cross Model is a better way to learn. Focused, active learning is enabling more of our students achieve to their goals. The results so far are positive signs as we anticipate full immersion in 2023,” said Professor Roche.
